A tour of Pineywoods Baptist Campground

Today, I am sharing a video made by our friends, Herb and Kathy, after visiting us here at Pineywoods and getting the 'tour'.

We met them back in November when we pulled into the Escapee park in Livingston, TX.  We had the space across from them, and they and a couple other campers came over to help David back into the trees.  After a long, long drive that day, we were so happy to be stopped for a few days.  

We arrived on Thanksgiving, fully meaning to be there in time for the big Thanksgiving dinner but, it was a lot longer drive than we had anticipated, especially getting around San Antonio and Houston.

We were able to go have left overs, the next day, with them and a lot of other RVers.  

Before we headed out for our VCB job, we each traded our 'business' cards....and we kept up with their travels via their blog.

When we heard that they were back in Livingston for a couple of weeks, I contacted them to see if we might be able to go down and visit since it was just about 30+ miles from us.  We had a great time and I picked Herb's brain about all kinds of things.  

The next day, they drove down to visit us here at Pineywoods.  I had gone on and on and on about this camp.  We also found out that they had joined VCB since we had last seen them.  :-)

Even though I have taken tons of photos since being here....and have shared some of them.... I had wanted to give a 'tour' of the campground before we left but I just didn't get time to get that done.  When I received Herb's video of his visit, I asked if I could just share that!  He graciously gave me permission.

    Very nice video! It looks like a beautiful park! Somehow a couple of your blog posts got put into my spam folder and I just discovered them! Sounds like you are meeting really nice people.

      This has been a great journey, so far!! We left Pineywoods and are now at a different location......beautiful here, too! I'll post when I have secure Wi Fi and it stays on for more than a few minutes :-)

A Memorial to our wonderful Annie!!

I haven't posted since November and some of you know the reason why, but for the rest of you....... On December 7th, we lost our beautiful Annie.  I still have a hard time talking about it, without choking up.  She was truly a gift from Heaven to us. I posted on Facebook but I just couldn't talk about her in person, without crying, and after almost a month, still have a hard time. But, since she was such a trooper and started the RV life with us at 12 years old and put up with travelling all over the US,  I thought she deserved to be honored in a blog post.   Please feel free to just move on if you aren't a dog lover, I'll understand. So here's to one of the best friends we've ever had.   I got to thinking that she traveled through 26 states with us during her lifetime of 16 3/4 years. She saw both oceans and walked and peed on a lot of different soil.  :-)     Annie as a pup in 2004.  She was a Mother's Day gift from our younger Son.

Crockett, Texas "Paradise in the Pines"

Crockett is about 40 miles from where we are staying at our current volunteer job with VCB.  We had gone there once to pick up a prescription and get a few groceries but didn't venture down to the actual town. I always have to look up the history of the town or what it’s known for or how it got it’s name….and of course things to do and see there.  Here is what I found: The town was named after David  Crockett  who reportedly had camped nearby on his way to the Alamo; the site was very near the Old San Antonio Road. A family from Tennessee donated the land for the town and named it after  Crockett , whom they had previously known. We, also pass through Groveton, on our way to Crockett to get groceries.  A week or two ago, on our way to Crockett, we passed a field where they had some guys in civil war uniforms.    We didn’t know what was going on till we got home and I Googled it….and found out they were enacting the battle of blackjack grove.  If we had known about it,

It's a God Thing, for sure

Hello.....some of you may have been following me on my other blog, http://Pawsn2stamp.blogspot.com  and have asked that I do a travel blog. Some of you know the story or how we became interested in volunteering with VolunteerChristianBuilders.org  and that is what we are getting ready to do. The name of our blog depicts the very thing I said when I had been talking to a friend via e-mail and told her how we had been tossing the idea around for over a year and I was getting so frustrated because we couldn't decide what to do.....sell the house or stay.  We couldn't go do what we wanted if we didn't sell the house but on the other hand, I LOVED my home.  So, one day, I told her "I am so frustrated, with the back and forth, back and forth trying to decide whether to do it or not, I guess someone is just going to have to knock on my door and ask if we want to sell the house and I'll know it's from God"  Well, not even 20 minutes later, the doorbell rang
