On the job with VCB
Celebrating our wonderful Annie's 14th birthday, today!!!
Now onto my blog post for today!!
We have been at Pineywoods baptist camp volunteering since the 3rd week of January up to the present.
I thought I would show you some of the work the guys were doing on the newest lodge that is being built. I waited till the job was almost finished (or the part VCB and TBM played) so that you could see the progress made.
The first two weeks, that we were here at Pineywoods, I was down sick with the flu so I missed taking a lot of photos. But, you'll get the a gist of what goes on here.
Some of the first jobs David was given to do, was sand, router and poly boards that would go on the insides of the dorms. Since I was still sick, I didn't get photos of those.
When I was finally able to get out and about, he was routing bed parts for the 28 bunk beds that would go in the dorms.
Here they are assembling the bunk bed frames.
And, a photo of their work displayed in the lodge. They made 28 bunk beds. When another group, Texas Baptist Men, came after VCB left, they installed the bunk beds in the dorms.
Believe me, that was a LOT Of bed parts to each of those bunk beds.
David helped the Pineywoods crew (3) paint 60 sheets of plywood, black, so that when the VCB crew arrived they would be able to install them on the ceiling.
Here they are in both photos installing the ceiling plywood.
Before VCB arrived, the 3rd week of February, David and the staff sanded, stained and poly urethaned roughly 600 pieces of 1x12 pines and 600 pieces of 1x2 bats so they would be ready when VCB arrived.
The studs on the walls were already done when we arrived in January.
David and Bob measuring boards for the bottom of the sinks in the bathrooms.
Two of the sink foundations that David built for the bathrooms.
This is a good view of the walls and doors that were installed in dorms. All the wood comes from the property.
Pat, head of maintenance at Pineywoods, is putting varnish on the doors.
Aren't they beautiful?
Here is the corrugated metal they use on some of the walls as accent pieces. They are cleaned and poly'd and when they are done, it is really awesome looking.
Believe me, I have only touched the tip of the iceberg of what all goes on here at Pineywoods and when the volunteer groups come.
Wednesday, I am going to share a blog video, that a friend took, of Pineywoods.
So stay tuned.......................
