Cowboy Church of Brenham, part two

Shooter, is the dog that belongs to the Crew Chief, Jerry and his wife, Sandy.  Shooter would see me coming and she would come out and meet me for her belly rub!!  She definitely had my number!!! What a sweetheart.  She kept an eye on the guys as they worked.

One day, that first week, all the ladies carpooled into to Brenham,to go thrift store shopping.  There were about 4 more ladies in the group, but I could never seem to get them all together at one time.  What a great bunch of ladies!!!  I really enjoyed working with them.

Two of them, goofing off!!! :-)

I loved all the old buildings in dowtown Brenham.  Of course if you want more modern stores.....they have those, too,  off the service roads along the freeway.  Lots of different places and restaurants galore!!

Another week, we all went thrift shopping, again, but this time in Navasota, TX about 23 miles away, give or take, in the opposite direction.  And, like a lot of old towns, they had a Train track going right through the middle of town.  I know I got a photo of that....

The town was old...as are a lot of Texas towns out in the country but they had a lot of Thrift shops and other unique stores....but for some reason on this certain Tuesday, a lot of them were not open.

And, at the end of the afternoon, we drove to Martha's Bloomers.  What a unique and fun store.

On the way home, we saw someone selling used library books in the parking lot, so we just had to stop and a few of us got quite a books for a good price.  :-)

That's just a few of the things we did.  We also visited the Blue Bell Creameries with the gals from another VCB job, up the road from us about 12 miles.  And, of course, we had to take time to stop for their $1 bowl of ice cream and a visit to their gift shop.

During the week, mostly we worked on mission projects.  Some gals were making pencil bags, a few were working on Fidgit blankets for Alzheimer's patients, some were making homeless mats.

One gal was working on cute little dresses for a mission in Africa, I believe.  She made 40 dresses in the two weeks she was there.

I have to apologize as I got sidetracked after our first two weeks there and didn't update this blog.

UPDATE:

We have since left Brenham, TX and on the way home I contracted a horrific cold and pink eye in both eyes.  I spent Mother's Day in Kingman, AZ holed up in our RV.   Thankfully, my Sister wasn't afraid of contracting pink eye and we sat on opposite sides of the RV....while we visited.

We left for Oregon on the day after Mother's Day and spent one night in Hawthorne, NV and one night in Likely, CA at a small RV/golf course, there.

We spent a couple of weeks in Oregon and then drove up to WA and spent the next couple of weeks there visiting friends and our Granddaughter.

We were even blessed to be able to drive back to Bend, OR to attend our younger granddaughter's college graduation.

Now, we are off on a new adventure and I'll be posting, soon, about that.

We had a wonderful time in Brenham, TX....and it was sad to leave new friends and the Cowboy Church.  If you are ever in that neck of the woods, be sure to visit the Cowboy Church of Brenham.

Have a fantastic day!!!
